The delightful island of Brac boasts 2,700 hours of sunshine each year and belongs to the sunniest Adriatic zone with 9 to 12 hours of sunshine daily during the summer. Come here in the winter time and you will find the winters are short and mild.
Brac is famous for its export of milk white marble stone which was the island’s main trade until the development of tourism. It was even used to build the White House in Washington: there are several examples of this stone in our apartment building.
The town of Bol is on the southern coast of the island of Brac. It is an extremely pretty and small coastal town with an attractive working harbour; here is where you can buy fresh fish as soon as it is landed. In 2008 it won the award for the best tourist resort in Croatia (not for the first time; having previously received the award in 2005). It is a relaxing and beautiful place to spend your holiday.
There are several small shops and bakeries as well as a small daily fresh fruit and vegetable market in the centre of town where you can obtain locally grown seasonal produce. There are several small beaches although most popular is the famous Zlatni Rat Beach; clean and pebbled with crystal clear water and backed by pine woods. For the energetic it is also an excellent location for participation in water sports such as windsurfing, kite-surfing and scuba-diving. Or just sail around in your catamaran.
This modern air-conditioned one bedroom apartment is conveniently located 200 metres from both the sea and the central harbour area of Bol. It is only a short walk to local restaurants, café-bars, shops and the famous Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) beach.
The spacious apartment is well appointed and situated on the second floor which gives excellent sea views towards the nearby island of Hvar from the south facing loggia (covered balcony). It is the perfect holiday home for up to 4 people.
This ancient town has many attributes. Good local seafood, plenty of water sports to choose from and ideally situated to explore both the mainland and nearby islands in addition to Brac itself.
Situated in Central Dalmatia, conveniently located just 40 minutes by ferry from Split (on the Croatian mainland), Brac Island is Croatia’s 3rd largest Adriatic island and consists of many unspoilt towns and villages, ringed by pine trees and surrounded by mountain-sage, rosemary and heather.
Croatia has been an independent, fully democratic state since 1992. It boasts 1000 miles of unspoilt coastline and some of Europe’s clearest seas. The country has a rich cultural heritage and has several examples of world-class natural and cultural resources that have been awarded World Heritage Site designation. The Croats themselves are intensely proud of their independence and are extremely courteous, friendly and hospitable; and many speak English.
